Position Title: Cybersecurity Analyst

Reports To: IT Department Senior Manager
Position Overview
The Cybersecurity Analyst is responsible for protecting SMU’s information systems, networks, and digital assets. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of institutional data while supporting SMU’s academic and operational activities.
The ideal candidate is a technically skilled professional with a strong sense of responsibility and ethics, capable of identifying risks, responding to incidents, and continuously improving SMU’s cybersecurity posture in line with international standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Security Operations and Risk Management
- Ensure the security of systems, networks, applications, and databases.
- Identify, analyze, and remediate vulnerabilities across the IT environment.
- Implement and maintain information security policies and procedures (ISMS / PSSI).
- Monitor security events and manage incident response activities.
Auditing, Testing, and Compliance
- Conduct security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration tests.
- Support compliance with cybersecurity frameworks and regulations (ISO 27001, GDPR, etc.).
- Maintain technical documentation, procedures, and security reports.
Monitoring and Tool Management
- Operate and manage security tools such as SIEM, EDR, antivirus, and vulnerability scanners.
- Perform log analysis, event correlation, and reporting using FortiAnalyzer.
- Administer Fortinet solutions including FortiGate and FortiAnalyzer.
User Awareness and Continuous Improvement
- Raise awareness among staff and students regarding cybersecurity best practices.
- Conduct technology and regulatory monitoring to recommend improvements.
- Contribute to strengthening SMU’s overall cybersecurity maturity.
Profile and Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or Engineering degree in Computer Science, Networking, Cybersecurity, or related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in cybersecurity or IT security (motivated junior profiles with strong internships will be considered).
- Solid knowledge of network security (firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS).
- Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments.
- Familiarity with application and database security.
- Hands-on experience with Fortinet solutions (FortiGate, FortiAnalyzer).
- Understanding of cryptography and identity/access management (IAM).
- Basic knowledge of cloud security (Azure, AWS, or equivalent).
- Fluent French and technical proficiency in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SIEM platforms, EDR solutions, and vulnerability scanners.
- Exposure to cloud security architectures.
- Professional certifications in cybersecurity (e.g., ISO 27001, Fortinet, CEH, Security+) are an asset.
