Welcome to South Mediterranean University!

SMU Campus is located in Lac 2, an important financial and diplomatic district within 10-15 minutes driving distance from: 


  • Sidi Bou Said, La Marsa, La Goulette and Carthage.
  • Ain Zaghouan: a growing residential area.
  • The Carrefour supermarket and shopping center.
  • Numerous restaurants and nightlife spots

 


Housing:

International Programs department assists in Housing through a private agency


Immigration/Residency Documents: 

It is compulsory to fill in a request for a residency permit shortly after your arrival (within a maximum of one month).
This is the list of the required documents (to submit to the police station serving your area of residency) to obtain a residency permit.


Getting a Bank Account: 

In order to open a bank account at any bank agency you need the following documents:

  • A copy of your certificate of registration at SMU. 
  • A copy of the first page of your passport. 
  • A copy of your Residency Card


Any foreign national intending to enter Tunisia for the purpose of study should:

  • Obtain a Tunisian visa (if applicable) to facilitate entry.
  • Enter Tunisia through only authorized ports of entry.
  • Present a valid passport to the Immigration officer at the port of entry.
  • Declare the purpose of entry into Tunisia and the intended institution of study.
  • Proceed to the designated immigration office after entry and obtain a residency card.

Health:

SMU has a doctor and a full time nurse available on campus , SMU also has a partnership with La Rose Hospital (5mins walk from campus) for emergencies and on campus sickness or accidents. 

For your mental health, SMU Advising and Counselling Center is available offers psychological and academic advising.



Travel and to-do activities:


In Greater Tunis:  

Greater Tunis is a seaside resort beautiful beach 10-15mins away from campus.  A city of Art and History, Tunis offers pleasant living conditions, with numerous cultural, intellectual and sporting events and facilities, mountains for nature lovers, and a variety of restaurants, historic sites, gyms and active night life.


Outside of Tunis: 

Tunisia is rich in scenery and culture , moving from a state to another gives you a different taste of the country, an hour away from Tunis you can find more than 13 camping sites, beautiful scenery with  Mediterranean sandy beaches and other locations for entertainment.
