In September 2024, economists based in Tunisia and abroad established the Evidence Policy Impact Lab (EPI Lab) at South Mediterranean University (SMU) in collaboration with the Development and Societies Research Lab (DEVSOC) of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne University and the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD). EPI Lab's mission is to promote evidence-based policymaking through rigorous impact evaluations addressing economic, social, and environmental issues. The lab aims to connect researchers and practitioners, providing stakeholders with modern data science and policy analysis tools.
The Evidence Policy Impact Lab aims to foster evidence-based policy in Tunisia, the Mediterranean and in the African continent
1. Support evidence-based policy and its dissemination.
2. Seek to integrate economic, social, and environmental dimensions.
3. Establish connections between researchers and practitioners in the field of development.
4. Promote a culture of monitoring and evaluation of development policies.
5. Support the capacities of stakeholders to mobilize modern techniques in data science and impact analysis of public policies.
