Dr. Hichem Kallel is a Professor of Electrical Engineering and the current Dean of the Mediterranean School of Technology (MedTech) at the Southern Mediterranean University (SMU) in Tunisia. With over three decades of academic and industrial experience, Dr. Kallel is widely recognized for his expertise in robotics, control systems, and artificial intelligence. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University in the United States, with a focus on robotics and control. Dr. Kallel has held various positions, including Professor at INSAT (University of Carthage), Associate Professor at ENIM, and lecturer at The Ohio State University. In parallel with his academic career, Dr. Kallel has held leadership roles in industry, notably within the Poulina Group, where he managed several industrial projects, including automation, manufacturing optimization, and process control across diverse sectors such as food production, plastic molding, and automotive components. His unique profile, bridging high-level research, hands-on industrial innovation, and academic leadership, positions him as a key figure in advancing engineering education and applied research in Tunisia and beyond.
