Over 1500 students from across the country or abroad are hosted by SMU for the current academic year. Both Students and Staff are of diverse backgrounds, cultural upbringings, beliefs, political views and are from all over the economic spectrum. This diverse population is what makes life at SMU a riveting experience aimed at creating open minded critical thinkers ready to tackle the world.
For broader horizons and for a learning experience that does not stop at the doorsteps of the classrooms, the campus features many clubs and associations that provide extracurricular and co-curricular opportunities for students, launching social projects with Enactus, raising funds and donations for those in need with Lions or developing leadership and aiming for peace with AIESEC or wining competitions and bringing back trophies with SMU Sports Club.
SMU students are always learning, developing, and most importantly following their passions around and beyond campus.
Safety is considered as paramount within SMU. Regardless of SMU’s safe location “Lac2”, the South Mediterranean University is still doing its best to ensure the safety of students and staff.
In collaboration with one of the best Tunisian security companies, SMU campus is staffed 24 hours a day, year-round by trained professionals to guard the campus.
The dedication to providing a secure and safe environment for the campus community translates in the fact of arming the campus with high quality Surveillance Cameras in each corridor, box, classroom, and yard. Ensuring the SMU community safety is also enacted in the adoption of secure access to campus through ID cards/badges only.
