Politically, it is a vibrant and young democracy with unprecedented freedom for women, including its ranking as the first Arab country to appoint a female Prime Minister.

SMU Campus has a doctor and a full-time nurse available in the infirmary, SMU also has a partnership with La Rose Hospital (5mins away from campus) for emergencies and on-campus sickness or accidents. For your mental health SMU Advising and Counselling Center is available for all SMU students.
